Over the last few weeks and in two regions alone – death tolls and numbers of people displaced are disarming. Hurricane Harvey has taken 30 lives, while 54 counties in Texas have been declared disaster areas. With 66cm of rainfall deluging the state, Houston Emergency Services have received around 6000 appeals for rescues, with the Coast Guard confirming only 1200 rescues – 200 of which have had to be conducted from air, because of conditions on the ground.
The team at Reach and Rescue send all our thoughts and prayers to the Irish Coastguard team and all the effected families after this tragic event. The huge search for the remaining crew of IRCG helicopter 116 is still underway.

Red Cross Rescue Corps Successfully Recovered a Body of a USA Tourist Who Went Missing in a Ferocious Norwegian Waterfall.
On the 3rd of August the River Rescue Group from the Red Cross Rescue Corps in where deployed to Hivjufossen on a mission to search for an American tourist who disappeared in river July 24th.
Dramatic Footage Shows a River Rescue in Leeds Demonstrating the Dangers of Open Water
The rescue from the River Aire occurred early in the morning of May 21st in The Calls area of Leeds. A man is seen to plunge into the water and struggle to keep afloat as he grasps at vegetation along the walls of the river bank.
His Royal Highness The Earl of Wessex Officially opened Newsham Court – the new HQ for RBFRS.
